Washington is hurting for snow this year!
Our 2nd ride of the
February was a hookie day at Gallager. We were tempted by a reported 8" of
new snow and the weatherman stating we would see the sun! We saw the sun
on the way in, but it managed to escape us the rest of the day. As far
as the 8" of new, it was there, in some spots! I forgot my camera so
here is the highlights of the day! I think this is an attempt at
blogging???

We crawled along a creekbed and then the guy in front of me took up the
ravine and I said "let's go buddy" (like he could hear me!) and
followed. There was lots of old trenches with some soft on top and I'm
bouncing all over... Look to my left - open creek coming down the hill.
Directly in my line was a ice wall. To the right was less of a wall and
a tree. Far right was open with trees below. I'm looking left, right,
trying to figure out what I'm gonna do (WFO too!) and then Chris turns
out and gets stopped next to the tree (best line for me) to watch the
rodeo! I'm approaching fast and decide to sidehill to far right, then
look closer and it looks like it is prolly hard pack. So I cut it
straight up and was THINKING I'd shoot between Chris and tree. Ya-no.
There was about 4' of room there. LOL I've got her completely pulled
over, leg hanging out and looking at him, he's got these big eyes that
say "She's really gonna hit me!" and I hit the wall and pop on top, I
get with in a foot of him and manage to stop... on my side... pray she
doesn't roll back down. I look up and he's laughin, shaking his head....
says "now what?" hahhaaaaaaaaaaa Whoooooooooooo... that got the heart
going!
Then we get to another area and there's a chute, if there was more
fresh snow I would have been scared to death of avy. The boys head up
and I'm last. It isn't super steep, but it is icy and long. I'm slippin'
and sliding all over the place! I get with in 100' of the top and it
gets soft, I pull her up on one ski and am finally havin' some fun. Then
I see the boys, sitting behind some trees.... I'm cutting through the
trees and unfortunatley one had to get ran over. They were giggling at
me... then it's time to go down. Uh, ya.. tobogan? WHOOOO holy freaking
pucker! Hitting the brakes only propelled me faster. I was a shakin'
when I hit the bottom. But, all ended well and it's always good to get
that adrenaline going!
I was getting beat up pretty bad trying to find the soft stuff, relaxing
and letting 'er rip then hitting something hard and just jarring the
chit outa me! By the end of the day I had to sit and watch, my elbow
couldn't take any more. THAT SUCKS BIG TIME!
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I need powder.....
